BIO

Amy B. Smith is a global marketing and communications professional with extensive experience leading marketing and communications in support of large-scale organizations. She has served in leadership roles in Fortune 500 and FTSE 100 corporations, military and academia.

 

Ms. Smith is the Sr. Vice President, Chief Marketing and Communications Officer for Texas A&M University. She is also co-founder of The Legacy Mission, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that connects filmmakers and ad agency technicians with individuals facing life threatening illnesses to help them create hopeful videos as a gift for loved ones.

 

Previously, Ms. Smith served as Vice President, Communications of the Services division of Raytheon Company. In that role, she supervised a team of professionals across 440 sites in 80 countries.

 

Before joining Raytheon in 2009, Smith was Managing Director at global public relations firm Burson-Marsteller in Washington, DC, where she worked with clients such as: The Coca-Cola Company, Intel, SAP, FedEx, American Express, and various agencies within the U.S. Government.

 

Smith served in Iraq in 2004 as a U.S. Army civilian as Director of Communications for which she was awarded the Joint Civilian Meritorious Award. Prior to that, she served in marketing roles of increasing responsibility in London, England with FTSE 100 engineering company Invensys. Serving as Vice President of Marketing and as Special Assistant to Lord Colin Marshall, Chairman of Invensys and British Airways.

 

Smith earned a Master of Public Service Administration with a focus upon homeland security from Texas A&M University. Prior to that she earned a Master of International Management from Thunderbird Global School of International Management. Prior to that, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Clemson University.
